Byzantine Athens Church of Penniless Saints

Byzantine Church in Athens: Penniless Saints

The original church follows, in the general outline, the classical architectural type of cross-in-square plan with a dome. However, the large dome differs in type from the traditional Athenian style because it is divided into two tiers. The repairs made in 1908, the industrially produced tiles and the covering of the walls with bluff cement plaster have changed the aspect of the church enormously.
