Harry's Athens Apartment (self catering)
My apartment for rent in central Athens (Exarhia Square) sleeps 7 and is ideal for singles, couples, families or groups of friends. Only a 5 minute walk (click to see Athens Map) from the National Archeology Museum and 7 minutes walk from Omonia Sq. You can walk to the Acropolis via all the downtown sights and the Plaka in 30 minutes if in a hurry, or take the metro from Omonia Sq. Prices start at 40 eu per night for a single guest, 50 eu for a couple. Its also easy to get to the airport or Piraeus too via the metro.
There are three Bedrooms: one has three single beds, one has two single beds and one has a queen size bed. I rent it for durations of from one night up to two weeks or longer depending on the time of year. I give special low rates for everybody including singles and couples and there is no minimum stay.
Each room has a Sony 21" TV set and its own air conditioning and heat. There is a full kitchen with oven, micro-wave, drip coffee maker and everything you need to eat breakfast or cook one meal or several. There only one bathroom which has an old fashioned claw foot bathtub which has been re-enameled and a marble floor.
Everything is clean, up to date and as modern as possible. I have never had a complaint about the furnishings or the apartment. The location has been called 'superb' and I have had visitors from all over the world as guests, including doctors, lawyers, priests, journalists, writers, film crews, students, historians, professors, phil-hellenes and plenty of children too.
This is a dedicated apartment for short term visitors, not a rooming house or pension and you will enjoy its exclusive use. Its been designed by me from scratch to have everything you would expect and more in a moderately priced hotel. The beds and mattresses are new and so is most everything else including the plumbing, wiring, and most of the hardwood floors. There are also expensive security locks on the apartment door and bars on the windows.
Exarhia is a lively neighborhood with lots of students, plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and even 2 ferry ticket offices very near by! There is a historic (The Vox) open air cinema right across the street and a garden like cinema (the Riviera) around the corner and next door to one of the best restaurants in Athens (the Wishbone). Athens is not a quiet town and Exarhia is no worse than anywhere else in fact its less expensive than a lot of areas like Plaka and Kolonaki because real Greeks eat and live here.
The apartment is in a historic building in Exarhia Sq. that even Le Corbusier visited and admired, designed by my Grandfather. If you want to experience Athens like a real Athenian while saving money and with no lack of comfort then e-mail Harry for more information.
The Blue Polikatikia in Athens Greece was praised by Le Corbusier who said of it: "C’est très beau", when he visited it in the construction stage, having come to Athens for the Fourth International Congress of Modern Architecture (IV CIAM).
