Getting there and Away
- By Air: There are 5 flights from Athens a day, 75 EU., flights also from Thessaloniki, Heraklion,Crete, Kos, Karpathos, Santorini, Kastellorizo, and Kassos with varying degrees of frequency.
- Fewer in winter.
- By Sea: One to four ferries per day from Piraeus,23 EU, 15 hr.

Rhodes Island
Greece’s fourth largest island (after Crete, Evia and Lesvos/Mytilini) Rhodes (Rhodos in Greek) is the most visited Greek island after Crete, with about one million tourists annually, both Greek and foreign (mostly from Europe, including Germans, British, Swedes, Danes and Italians).
It is only 11km from the southwest Asia Minor coast, and separated from it by the Strait of Marmara. The largest of the Dodecanese island group, it accounts for more than half of its population with 110,000 inhabitants. It s length from north to south is 77km with a maximum width of 35.5km. West of the island’s center a range of high hills runs the length of the diamond-shaped island, with Mt. Ataviros the highest peak, at 1215 meters.
