This museum was funded by a donation of German-American industrialist Gustav Oberlander in 1937. It displays the regions finds from that point onwards with previous finds in the National Archeological Museum. The museum concerns itself with Greek funerary art and monuments as well as being near a key spot of ancient Athens: The Dyplion (double) and Sacred Gates where three key roads met.
